Electronic Visit Verification

ATTENTION: People receiving personal care and supportive home care services AND their caregivers. The statewide implementation of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) began January 1, 2022.

The following information is provided by Wisconsin Department of Health Services

What is Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)?

EVV is an electronic system that uses technologies to verify that authorized services were provided. Workers will be required to send information at the beginning and end of each visit to an EVV system, including:

  1. Who receives the service
  2. Who provides the service
  3. What service is provided
  4. Where service is provided
  5. Date of service
  6. Time in and out

Programs That Require EVV for Personal Care Services

  • Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus fee-for-service (ForwardHealth card)
  • BadgerCare Plus and SSI HMOs
  • Family Care and Family Care Partnership
  • IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct)

Personal care and supportive home services paid for through these programs require EVV. Other services covered by these programs, such as podiatry, do not require EVV.
