More about me:
I am married and have 4 children, a beautiful daughter-in-law and the sassiest granddaughter. My two biggies are 6 years apart and my two littles are 6 years apart—but the middle children are 10 years apart. That’s a total age gap of 22 years between the oldest and youngest! I very much enjoy lazy days when I can lay in my human-sized dog bed, snack on homemade eggrolls or crab Rangoon rolls, and binge watch crime TV shows (think Criminal Minds and Bones) or fantasticized Korean TV dramas (anything with Gong Yoo or Ji Sung). I also enjoy traveling to eat, be it down the street from my home, or across oceans and countries.
I’ve always worked in some service capacity—whether as a waitress in high school, food service worker through college, or my first big girl job after earning my BA. I had a brief stint in a corporate law environment and decided that was not for me. I missed my service roots. I applied for a part-time receptionist position with Portage County to get my foot back in the door. And I was REJECTED. Unbelievable to me, the person who interviewed me saw more potential in me than I did in myself; she referred me to a different position—as an Economic Support Specialist in the Family division. Then, I moved to specialize in Medicaid for Elderly, Blind, and Disabled Persons and Long Term Care Programs. This was where I found I thoroughly enjoyed working for and assisting this population. After 6 years as an ES worker, I moved to the ADRC of Portage County as an Information and Assistance Specialist, providing Options Counseling and completing Functional Screen Assessments for Long Term Care. Most recently before joining MILC, I owned Pho Ever 21, an Asian restaurant specializing in Vietnamese and Hmong cuisine.
I look forward to meeting you and assisting in meeting your self-directed goals.
